Movies that reflect compassion and consideration for animals can be an effective springboard for discussing humane values and good character with children. Humane Society Youth's reviews of the all-time best animal-themed children's movies include plot summaries and suggested follow-up activities that can be easily adapted for students in different grades. The rating for each movie (for example, G or PG) is noted in each review, as are cautionary notes ("Points to Ponder") about scenes or topics that may be considered objectionable or inappropriate for viewing by young audiences. In addition, we strongly urge teachers and parents to view movies on their own before showing them to children.
